FantaSigns: Welcome to Las Vegas

Posted in Strata CX, FantaSigns Customized Art on November 25th, 2006 by Anthony Ross

The icon of the Las Vegas Strip has now been created as a FantaSign, a customizable art print from Anthony Ross Studio.

The Las Vegas Sign was first created in 1959 by designer Betty Willis. It stands outside the main strip, just south of the first hotels, well at least for now. The city is growing so fast and far that now the hotels have moved beyond the unofficial entrance to Las Vegas.

The sign never had a marquee, and since customization is what we do, we added one!

The Las Vegas Fantasign is available in 4 sizes and either on canvas or paper, framed or unframed. It is a pigmented art print on archival medium and signed by the artist.

You can customize the marquee any way you like, announcing a wedding, party, or become a special guest of the most facinating city in the world.

The image above is the print on paper, matted and framed.

About the FantaSign: Deco Theater Customized Art

Deco Theater Night

Deco Theater (Night) Customizable FantaSign print

The inspiration for this image was the Crest Theater, in Long Beach, California. This is the theater I went to as a boy during the sixties and seventies.

The Crest had a displaced box office separate from the building. Another neat feature of this theater was the lobby. There was the snack bar in the middle and on each side of the snack bar were stairs leading to a seating area below. This was a great place to relax between shows (movies used to be shown as a double feature with an intermission. Of course this was before our collective ADHD ended that).

This theater also had a balcony. But my favorite place to sit in the theater is up near the front and in the middle. That is where I could see the huge curtains raise as the show started.

The theater survived until the late 70’s when the multiplex became the rage. It was torn down so another boring office complex was built in it’s place. And you know we don’t have enough of them.

Deco Theater is available in 4 print sizes and on either canvas or paper.

Disney Online Releases 3 New FantaSign Art Prints from Anthony Ross Studio

Posted in General, Art News, FantaSigns Customized Art on October 3rd, 2006 by Anthony Ross

Disneyshopping.com has released three new versions of our FantaSign series. Each one showcases a different Disney character (and the old Disneyland sign is a character to me) along with the ability of the purchaser to cusomize their print of choice.

I created the “Happiest Place on Earth” after the last Disneyland sign that stood outside the park (before a new sign ordinance in Anaheim, California, decided neon was taboo and made all the businesses around Disneyland put up boring “tombstone” signs”) The original Disneyland sign is a daylight print. This print I put in the famous fireworks seen every night at the park behind the sign. FYI, the sign was purchased by actor John Stamos when it was torn down.

“Dumbo Circus” takes the loveable Dumbo and give him his own circus. I used a circus tent illustration as the basis for the main part of the sign along with common Dumbo typefaces to create the print.

“Goofy Baseball” is based on the famous Wrigley Field sign. Mixing both old and new I wanted to create a traditional baseball scoreboard with a modern look of a baseball stadium.

FantaSigns Personalized Fine Art Makes A Unique Gift Idea

Deco Theater FantaSign

Our FantaSigns® are unique fine art prints where the buyer becomes part of the picture. Each print comes with a customizable marquee and, in addition, some FantaSigns have a special place to add a name, for example in our “Deco Theater” print above the name “Burns” can be changed to any name you choose. There are over 20 different Fantasign images to choose from on our FantaSigns web site.

In addition, we have partnered with the Walt Disney Company and provide six additional FantaSigns available exclusively Disney Company’s official web shopping site DisneyShopping.com.

In future posts I will provide some insight into how these unusual images originated and how they are created. I can’t tell you everything (company secrets, you know) but I can give you some interesting background into the creation of a FantaSign. If you have any questions please post them and I will be happy to answer them.
